As part of its commitment to the diversity of cultural expressions and in view of fostering dynamic creative industries in developing countries, UNESCO is launching an exploratory study on the film and audiovisual industry in Africa to gather data and information in order to respond to the challenges and needs of this strategic sector and contribute to its development.
Under the authority of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (DCE) Entity and the direct supervision of the Head of Programmes and Stakeholder Outreach Unit (CLT/DCE/O), the consultant will conduct mapping of the film and audiovisual industry in the 54 countries of the African continent, provide an analysis of their strengths and weaknesses as well as recommendations for actions at the continental, regional and national levels.
This study aims to provide a detailed and accurate assessment of the current film and audiovisual industry in Africa, to develop a road map for the development of this sector and to assist Member States in the implementation of relevant policies. The study’s results will be shared with the Conference of Parties on the 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, in June 2021.
**Selection and recruitment process**
Please note that the interested candidates must complete an on-line application providing complete and accurate information including:
- An up-to-date curriculum vitae
- A statement indicating how their qualifications and experiences make them suitable for the position
- Presentation of the approach he/she would adopt to carry out the assignment, including any inputs that may be required from UNESCO
- Three references for similar projects or in the film industry
- The overall cost of the assignment expressed in USD as an overall lump sum. Any travel and subsistence requirements should be expressed in USD separately
